As a result of the "incursions" and military operations in the communities of El Bosque and Simojovel, many of their inhabitants fled to the mountains, according to the Center for Human Rights, Fray Bartolome' de las Casas.
He added that "the climate of violence and threats provoked by the acts of the military forces contradicts the objective of safeguarding the security of the community with which they justify their operations" are "those that cause "fear, insecurity, and an escalating climate of tension."
According to the organization, at the communities of Mercedes Isidoro, Luis Espinoza and Las Limas arrived yesterday more than 40 federal soldiers, who while observing the people who approached them "fired" with fire arms at this last community.
Subsequently, he claimed, when the locals asked the soldiers to leave, "they responded with a threat of searching their homes for arms," and at the same time "loaded their weapons and pointed them at the farmers."
The center for human rights asserted that "the incursion, the shooting and ?? of unarmed civilians with a threatening and intimidating attitude represents a violation of the basic rights of the community."
